Porter [printed by Taylor and Francis], 1888-1889. 2 volumes, 8 (252 x 162mm). 20 hand-coloured lithographic plates by and after J. G. Keulemans, titles with wood-engraved vignettes by J. Smit. Contemporary crimson half morocco, the gilt spine with repeated tool of a bird with outstretched wings perched on a flower stem (rebacked, with the old spine preserved in sections). Number 108 of a limited edition of 200 copies signed by Sclater and Hudson. Fine Bird Books p. 106; Nissen IVB 843; Zimmer p. 562: 'An account of 434 species of birds from Argentina, with concise descriptions and brief synonymy of each from the pen of Sclater, and with detailed notes on habits by Hudson.... The hand-coloured plates ... are very fine'. (2)
