Screaming Eagle, Cabernet Sauvignon--Vintage 1996
3 bottles per lot
SCREAMING EAGLE Screaming Eagle is likely Napa Valley's smallest winery. The wine made from one acre of vines, just below Dalla Valle, in a small stone winery in Oakville has captured the hearts and attention of wine collectors across the globe. Available only through the mailing list, the elusive, yet legendary Screaming Eagle reaches extraordinary prices based on its cult following. The vines are Cabernet Sauvignon primarily, but Merlot and Cabernet Franc are blended in small amounts. During her tenure winemaker Heidi Barrett used small, half-ton fermenters, plenty of punching down with no fining or filtration to make a concentrated, yet pure version of the fruit. The wine is aged in 65 new French oak barrels in a small cave for almost two years. Screaming Eagle, Cabernet Sauvignon--Vintage 1996 Napa Valley In original wooden case "The newly-released 1996 Cabernet Sauvignon reveals lots of structure, an opaque purple color, and the hallmark blackberry and cassis liqueur-like notes. Silky-textured, fabulously-concentrated, and gorgeously-balanced, it has every component part - acidity, alcohol, tannin, and extract - flawlessly presented. Anticipated maturity: 2002-2020."
