Provenance: Sir David Lionel Salomons (circular armorial bookplate); Walter Behrnard Sampson (bookplate). FIRST EDITION, BOUND FROM THE ORIGINAL PARTS. "A thorough monograph of a limited section of the family Turdidae ... Several new species are described. The hand-coloured plates by Keulemans are excellent" (Zimmer). Seebohm oversaw the preparation of most of the plates before his death, and his text occupies pp 1-91. The remainder of the text is by Sharpe.
