[Sermons - Binding] TRUJILLO, Tomás de, O.P. Thesauri concionatorum tomus primus. Conciones que per menses, Novembris, Dece[m]bris,& Ianuarij tam de Tempore, quam de Sanctis in Ecclesia haberi solent continens [- tomus secundus, - tertius, - quartus]. Paris, N. Nivelle, 4 parts in 5 vol., 8vo: [42]-72-[2]-556-[20], [41-1 bl.]-501-[1 bl.], [1-1 bl.]-502/792-[36-1 bl.]-73-[4-1 bl.], [18]-[= 341]-[14-1 bl.], 479-[1 bl.] ff. (browning; part some minor waterstaining, p. loosening). Contemp. blind-stamped pigskin over wood (corners sl. bumped with some lack of leather), boards later fully painted speckled reddish-brown, gilt-stamped central arms on front boards, bevelled edges, gilt spines with 4 raised bands, yellow leather title labels, metal clasps and catches (1 missing), red edges, fore-edge tabs of an old liturgic paper ms. Nice set. Rare first Paris edition (orig. Lyon of these sermons for the whole church year, by the Spanish dominican T. de Trujillo (fl. 1584-1610). Each part deals with 3 months. The 2nd vol. of part with continuous pagination from part 2.has as subtitle "Secundi tomi pars altera [...] Adiectae sunt in fine conciones ad diversas materias spectantes". Ref. Urbani, 1600", i.e. the former Cistercian St. Urban's abbey in Pfaffnau (Swiss canton Lucerne) (ms. entry on each title). - "Ulrich von Gottes Gnaden, apt zu Sanct Urban.", i.e. Ulrich Amstein (1558-1627), the abbot of St. Urban's abbey from to (large 16th-c. woodcut armorial bookpl. in vol. 1). - Gilt-stamped central medallion on front covers depicting, inside a laurel wreath, Pope Urban I. The armorial shield underneath, with lion rampant, may direct to the arms of Willisau, the birthplace of Ulrich Amstein. - Vouzan (arm. bookplate with motto "Nihil desperandum"). - "ex libris F.M. Fahy" (ownership entry) - J. Bogaerts (mod. bookpl.).
