Engraved portrait of Shakespeare by Martin Droeshout on title-page, ornamental woodcut initials and head- and tail-pieces. Collation: A6 *4; A–Z Aa–Bb6 Cc2; a–y6; aa–zz aaa–ccc6 ddd4: 454 leaves. ccc6 bound before ccc1; lightly washed with remains of extensive contemporary manuscript annotations on bb3r, qq6r, vv1r and aaa6v, title-page skillfully inlaid without loss, title and preceding leaf of Ben Jonson's verses "To the Reader" lightly browned and a bit spotted (these two leaves likely supplied), A3–5 extended, A5 also remargined at bottom, large portion (49 x 112 mm) of blank upper fore-edge corner of *4 replaced, other mostly minor and marginal repairs to N2, c2, l3, bb5, hh2, bbb3, ddd4, pp5 slightly shorter (by 3 mm). Nineteenth-century dark green morocco, covers gilt-paneled, spine gilt in six compartments, marbled endpapers, gilt edges; extremities a bit rubbed.
