Sheikh Muhammad Ahli Shirazi (d. AH 942/1535 AD): Kulliyat Shiraz, Persia, AH 985/1577-8 AD An anthology of the author's poetic works, Persian manuscript on gold-sprinkled cream paper, 331ff. plus two flyleaves, each with 18ll. of flowing black nasta'liq in two columns and an outer columns of 12ll. written diagonally, occasional couplets written centrally in ruled panels, gold intercolumnar and interlinear divisions between black rules, blue, red, green and gold margins between black rules, blue outer rule, occasional marginal notes, headings in red or blue in panel with gold and coloured margins, (occasional smudging or staining, a few folios loose, repairs, some folios possibly missing, originally with further works at beginning and end, now pasted over with panels of nasta'liq calligraphy), opening bifolio with fine gold and polychrome illumination (small damages and repairs), two others similar in text, four bifolios with margins and one page decorated in the 19th century with animals and plants and scenes of Safavid sages in discussion (occasional light wear), penultimate folio dated 985 (added, possibly from original colophon), contemporary black morocco binding with gold stamped medallion (worn and repaired), red morocco doublures with blue and gold decoupé medallion and spandrels (some wear and repairs), in presentation case folio 10¾ x 5.3.4in. (27 x 14.8cm.); text 7 x 3¾in. (17.9 x 9.6cm.)
