FIRST COLLECTED EDITION, engraved frontispiece portrait by Finden, half-titles, advertisement leaf end of vol. 4, PRESENTATION COPY FROM MARY SHELLEY, inscribed by her on half-title in vol. 1: "For John George Perry Esq. from M.W. Shelley"; LEWIS CARROLL'S COPY with the ink monogram "CLD" (for Charles Lutwidge Dodgson) on verso of front free endpaper of vol. 1. A March 1912 gift inscription from a later owner in each vol. An important edition containing extensive biographical notes by Mary Shelley, including much information about the famous holiday in Switzerland during which she wrote Frankenstein ; her presentation inscriptions are very scarce.
