English, late 18th-early 19th century. An iron bound oak travelling liquor chest with an early wallpaper interior, having fitted compartments for twelve decanters. Each decanter of blown glass, with hand painted gilt shoulder designs and original glass stoppers. Chest also includes a fitted lift out tray containing two glass tumblers with gilt designs, two small glasses (one with gilt, the other acid etched) and a small pitcher. Right side retaining paper label reading Magee's East Boston Express. Includes key; ht. 10.5, wd. 15.5, dp. 10.75 in. Condition: There is a large crack extending across the top of the chest. One of the smaller decanters has a very small chip on the rim. One of the tumblers has a hairline fracture.
