SIGNED PHOTO OF BABE RUTH, CONNIE MACK, CHRISTY WALSH, AND OTHERS. Photo Signed ("Babe Ruth," "Gabby Street," "Christy Walsh," "Connie Mack," Nick Altrock," and "John J. McGraw"), 8 by 10 inch silver gelatin print, of Street in Cardinals uniform and the rest in street clothes at a major league baseball game, additionally inscribed by Walsh, "For Jerry Riley with best wishes," 1 inch closed tear to center right margin, small cut to upper margin, light wear to surface, otherwise fine. This remarkable photo probably dates from either 1930 or 1931, when the Philadelphia Athletics met the St. Louis Cardinals in consecutive World Series. From left to right are Ruth, at the peak of his powers; a somber looking Gabby Street, the Cardinal's manager from 1929-1933, and again in 1938; Christy Walsh, the sports journalist who started his own news syndicate and pioneered the field of sports licensing; Connie Mack, the longtime manager of the Athletics and the winningest manager in baseball history; Nick Altrock, a pitcher for the Washington Senators who played major league ball off and on for a span of 30 years; and John McGraw, the long-time manager of the New York Giants. A terrific collection of signatures of Hall of Famers.
