Engraved portrait of the author. FREIDBERG BINDING IN SILVER, the covers embossed and pierced in high rococo relief over boards, hallmark "BA" on clasp, covers with design of flowers, drawer pulls and leafy scrolls, heads of cherubs at each corner, front cover with large central greater national coat-of-arms of Sweden surmounted by a crown and bounded by two rampant lions, back cover with three putti at the center holding a bouquet of flowers, spine embossed en suite, etched floral clasp. Provenance : Adolf Frederik, King of Sweden (1710-1771, reigned following 1751; binding); Martin Johann Buckholtz (inscription dated 1769 on flyleaf); Fred W. Allsopp (his sale Parke Bernet, 1 April 1947, lot 30, Emil Offenbacher agent). A VERY FINE ROCOCO SILVER BINDING.
