Silver Oak, Cabernet Sauvignon, Alexander Valley 1995 Silver Oak, Cabernet Sauvignon, Alexander Valley 1995 Alexander Valley Lot 401: u. bn, imperial # 166/260 A real cassis nose. A terrific red and black fruit profile on the palate. Very gummy and opulent. Inky flavours at the end. A very vibrant, healthy, all-there wine. SS. Lot 399 12 bts (sc) Lot 400 12 bts (sc) per lot: USD 650-950 Founded in 1972 by Justin Meyer and Raymond Duncan, the Cabernets of Silver Oak Cellars have become some of the most popular (and, for that reason, among the scarcest) of California wines. Each vintage is snapped up almost immediately upon release. The attraction of Silver Oak stems from the distinctive and accessible style of the wines. Justin Meyer's mission is to produce wines that are supple and approachable upon release. To achieve this, the wines are given extended aging in predominantly American oak barrels. Initially the wines were produced exclusively from Alexander Valley fruit, though by the late 70s two other bottlings were added: Napa Valley (from Calistoga grapes), and Bonny's Vineyard (from Meyer's own vineyard in Oakville). The wines of Bonny's Vineyard developed a fiercely loyal cult of admirers, but production ceased after the 1991 vintage. SS. Quantity: 1
