Simpson’s journal was published posthumously with a memorial by his brother, Alexander Simpson (see also preceding lot). "During the trip the expedition encountered many western Eskimo and traded with them. Simpson's description of these natives and of the geological features along the route is valuable for the history of the early exploration of this region of Alaska" (Lada-Mocarski).
