Single Andalusian Qur'anic leaf, surah Luqman (XXXI) parts of verse 15 to part of verse 17, in Arabic, illuminated manuscript on parchment [North Africa, probably Morocco or Andalusia, thirteenth century] single folio with single column in 5 lines of bold brown maghribi, diacritics and accents in red and blue, two illuminated verse markers, one a teardrop shape in blue and gold and the second circular in gold with blue and red decorations, top outer edges of the leaf fallen away, discoloured at edges, a few wormholes, later marginal commentary to margins, 235 by 188 mm. (written space 175 by 145 mm.); mounted in card Qur'ans produced in the Western Islamic world of Andalusia at this time were lavishly laid-out (with only 5 lines to the page) and often bound in 30 separate volumes, each being one single Juz' of the Qur'an.
