(Sir Edwin Henry, R.A. ) An album of rare proof plates, various states, including 1 engraved by Landseer himself, a few others touched by him, most with manuscript annotations on supports indicating their exceeding scarcity and choiceness, also 2 original engraver’s reduction drawings, and including 1 plate, ‘Hector’, the lion in the Tower, by W. Sharp (this, his first engraving, dated 1775), c.75 plates in various states of etching and engraving, most on laid india paper, and two pencil drawings, v.s., almost all before all letters, engravers’ names, titles and states in ink at foot of supports, some dated (most c.1830), occasional light spotting, gilt- and blind-embossed full morocco, worn, upper joint broken, lower board detached, upper board gilt-lettered ‘Etchings and Small Plates after Sir Edwin Landseer’, oblong folio, [1850s].
