One-page autograph letter, signed 'Wm. Thackeray', from the Brighton and Sussex Club, n.d., 8°, to Brooke, 'Dinner will be charming' but he can not attend 'having only one coat to my back. But the ride in the East Wind? I think I can better employ my time than that...' One-page autograph letter, signed 'Wellington', from London, 17 April 1820, 8°, to Mr Morrie, requesting to meet at Stratfield Saye. with various other letters and cut signatures including Harriet Beecher Stowe, Agnes Strickland, James Burke Joseph Dalton Hooker Sophie Raffles, Lady Caroline Nevil, the Duchess of Marlborough and the visiting cards of Dwarkanauth Tagore and Henry Lytton Bulwer; the envelope fronts, many entirely autograph and dating from the 1830's, from various nobility, politicians, clergy and military figures such as 'Elgin', 'Gray', 'Robert Peel', 'W.E. Gladstone', 'Palmerston', 'Dundas', 'Daniel O'Connell' and others such as Humphry Davy and Thomas Babington Macaulay.
