4.25 x 6.5 Cabinet photograph of Sitting Bull. The image is by O.S. Goff in Bismark, Dakota Territory taken in 1881. Orlando Scott Goff was a Civil War veteran and photographer. He moved to the Dakota territory in 1871 and photographed a wide variety of important historical actors including such as Chief Joseph and George Armstrong Custard. Goff apparently became good friends with Sitting Bull and other members of Buffalo Bill Cody's Wild West Show. He retired in 1900 and died in 1916. Condition: Toning and foxing on the image, it also has lightened a little. The back has a small surface tear and more cases of foxing. Albumen with short, vertical tear that extends from top center into the feather, and horizontal crease that extends from feather to the left edge of the mount. Mount with lower left bumped corner, creating crease in corner, partial tear in mount verso.
