He passed his Army Schoolmasters exam at Aldershot on 1 October 1926 in Aldershot, and was advanced Warrant Officer Class I (Instructor) on 12 January 1934. He served in Palestine with the Army Educational Corps attached to the 1st Battalion Royal Sussex Regiment. Following the outbreak of the Second World War he was commissioned Second Lieutenant, General List, on 21 September 1940, and was advanced War Substantive Captain in the Royal Signals on 18 April 1942. He relinquished his commission in 1948. Only 45 General Service Medals with ‘Palestine’ clasp awarded to the Army Education Corps. Sold with copied medal roll extract.
