Author: [Dickens, Charles] "Boz" Place: London Publisher: John Macrone Date: 1837 Description: viii, 377, 19 ad pp. 12 etched plates, 10 by George Cruikshank (12mo) 19.5x12 cm (7¾x4¾") original cloth, titles on black pigmented cloth. First Edition. Dickens' earliest published title (this being the more scarce second series), first appearing in periodicals from 1833 to 1836, preceding The Posthumous Papers of the Pickwick Club by nearly a year; this title was not issued in monthly parts until 1837-9, after Chapman & Hall had obtained the copyright. Bookplate and certificate from the Old Curiosity Shop on front endpapers. Smith, Dickens in Original Cloth, V.I, No.2 Lot Amendments Condition: Spine leaning, some light soiling and wear; foxing; very good. Item number: 282865
