Smith & Son. A good 18 carat gold perpetual calendar minute repeating keyless chronograph hunter pocketwatch with Kew Certificate Signed S. Smith & Son, Strand, London, movement no. 14761, 1880s The frosted gilt three-quarter plate movement jewelled to the centre with screwed chatons, bimetallic balance with diamond endstone, blued steel helical spiral with double endcurves, English lever escapement, repeating the hours, quarters and minutes on two gongs by operating a slide in the band, additionally inscribed Class A Kew Observatory , the white enamel dial with Roman numerals, subsidiary dials for day, date and month with four year sections, combined with instantaneous minute recording, running seconds combined with sector for the moon with lunar calendar, blued steel spade hands, sweep centre seconds with outer seconds ring operated by a button in the band, in heavy engine turned case with engraved monogram to the front cover and hinged cuvette, casemaker's mark HCD for Henry Charles Dewar , with a length of 18 carat gold chain, movement signed and numbered London 1885
