Erste Ausgabe. – Motherwell/Karpell 146. – Belegexemplar für die auf Seite 65 vorgestellte norwegische Avantgarde-Künstlerin Ragnhild Keyser mit Widmung der Societé anonyme, datiert: New York 1929. – Einer der bedeutendsten Ausstellungskataloge der Moderne. – “The commemorative album of this immensely important exhibition, which assembled major work in virtually every phase of modernist endeavor throughout the world: Duchamp, Picabia, Léger, Schwitters, Ernst, Münter, Mondrian, Vantongerloo, Peri, Moholy-Nagy, Severini, de Chirico, Kuniyoshi, Brancusi, Kandinsky, Pevsner, Gabo, Lissitzky, Archipenko, Picasso, Klee, Stieglitz, O’Keeffe, Hartley and Man Ray, among others. Arranged alphabetically by country, the volume concludes with semi-constructivist montage salutes to Der Sturm, Merz, the Bauhaus and other bases of the avant-garde. The design, by Aladjalov, is dynamic throughout, with bold black and red layout, and alphabetical tabs at right, a feature reminiscent of Duchamp’s layout for ‘Some French Moderns Says McBride’, published by the Société Anonyme in 1922″ (Ars libri Cat 117, 231). – Ecken mit kleiner Stauchspur, sonst gut erhaltenes Exemplar.
