This is the first state, published and sold by George Humble between 1631 and 1632. Framed with double-glassing. Narrow margins. From Speed's atlas A Prospect of the Most Famous Parts of the World. A decorative map of Africa and the first map of this continent prepared by an English cartographer, closely based on the maps of Hondius and Blaeu. Another edition was published by Basset and Chiswell in 1676. Provenance: The estate of Dr Peter Wallenberg (1926-2015).
