Campée sur des jambes fléchies, les pieds formant avec le socle un bloc unique, l'effigie projette vers l'avant son buste menu. Les mains décrites en deux éléments obliques abstraits encadrent le nombril, symbole de lignage et de fertilité. La rondeur du fessier imprime au dos une courbure significative, le long sillon vertébral est orné de part et d'autre d'encoches. Les seins, accrochés à des épaules solides, s'inscrivent à l'aplomb du visage. Les yeux sont clos sous des paupières arquées, le nez délicat à l'arête fine, la bouche ouverte en point terminal de ce portrait inscrit dans un cœur. Surmontant le front haut, la coiffe en cimier répond dans sa franche courbure à la ligne magnifique courant de profil le long du menton. Un réseau de scarifications parallèles orne le corps et le visage, des bracelets parant les poignets et les bras cintrés. Les traits, empreints d'un extrême raffinement, décrivent un idéal de beauté, l'huile exsudant encore de l'œuvre lui apporte une profonde solennité. The female statue has been beautifully sculpted and is a fine example of Senufo art. The feet form a single block with the base under bent legs and the effigy thrusts its small chest forwards. The hands are two abstract oblique features framing and highlighting the naval, a symbol of lineage and fertility. The round buttocks give the back a deep curve and the long furrow along it is decorated with notches. The breasts beneath strong shoulders are perpendicular to the face: hooded eyes be neath arched eyelids, a delicate nose with a thin bone, an open mouth in the shape of a heart. The strong curve of the crested headdress on top of the high forehead echoes the fantastic profile along the chin. A network of parallel scarifications adorns the body and face, bracelets appear on the arched wrists and arms of this feminine depiction. The extremely refined features reflect a beauty ideal and the oil still oozing from the piece give it real dignity.
