David Stokes was a prominent Church of England clergyman, publishing Paraphrastical Explication of the Prophecie of Habbakkuk in 1646. His library included copies of the Nuremberg Chronicle (1493), and Sacrobosco Sphaera Mundi (1488), as well as many books on mathematics, astronomy, geography and divinity.
