Straight 30 1/4 inch blade with 14 inch panel etched with conventional florals and panoplies and engraved above the hilt W.H./Horstmann/& Sons on one side and Philadelphia on the reverse. Brass hilt with assymetrical shell cast with a large spread eagle with shield. Short quillon with single star. Chain guard. Eagle pommel of Widmann Type VI. Reeded bone grip. Brass scabbard engraved with leafage and banding and fitted with two suspension rings and C-scroll adorned frog stud. Reverse of scabbard stamped Horstmann and numbered 423. Condition: Fine blade showing light scratches and some discoloration just above hilt. Hilt and scabbard retain much finish. Scabbard with scattered dents. The example illustrated there is very similar in form but the treatment of the eagle on the shell is quite different.
