STREETER, E.W. THE GREAT DIAMONDS OF THE WORLD London: George Bell & Sons, 1882. 321pp. Inscribed: Presented to Mrs. Hope by the Author Edwin W. Streeter July 1882 Sinkankas states "The first major work on famous diamonds in any language and for many years regarded as the sole authority and still much referred to today" The book includes a chapter on the Hope diamond, the 44.50 ct. fancy blue diamond, which was donated to the Smithsonian Museum by Mr. Harry Winston. Mr. Hope was one of the earlier owners of this diamond and the inscription on this book makes it particularly rare.
