(Title slightly soiled at head and with minor repair at bottom margin, A3-8 extended at upper margin and possibly supplied, creasemarks to Mm3, small corner repair to final leaf.) Red morocco by Brugalla, 1948, gilt supralibros, gilt-lettered spine, turn-ins and edges (tightly resewn). Provenance : bought from José Sala Nadal, 1947.

Second edition of this 'obra de entretenimiento'. Adopting the manner of Rojas Villandrano's Viaje entretenido , it consists of a series of dialogues between the author and three companions on the road from Madrid to Barcelona, where they are embarking for Italy. 'The book is a copious source of information about life in Spain and Italy, excelling in descriptios of places, such as Milan and Madrid' (OCSL). Its satire against hypocricy, fashionable literary forms and pretensions to nobility ('hidalguiá') includes malicious comments on other writers including Cervantes, Alcarón, Lope de Vega, and Quevedo.
