♡ SYBIL CRAIG (1901-1989) Miss Delamere, the Model 1931 oil on canvas signed lower left: S. CRAIG titled and dated in exhibition catalogue 90.5 x 65cm PROVENANCE: The Artist Jim Alexander Gallery, Melbourne 1982 Private collection, Melbourne EXHIBITIONS: Sybil Craig, Jim Alexander Gallery, Melbourne, 18 April - 8 May 1982, cat. no. 4 (exhibition catalogue provided) LITERATURE: "Miss Delamere was of Irish extraction and was very lonely out here. She was Mr. [Bernard] Hall's model and we were lucky to get her. She had rich red hair, lovely skin and large blue eyes. I loved the quality of her skin and her charming profile" (Sybil Craig, exhibition catalogue) Estimate $4,000-6,000 Condition: The paint is stable and canvas appears to have been re-stretched and now housed in a modern frame. Under UV light previous restoration work is visible. Overall framed size is 110 x 83.5cm.
