One of the earliest works on paedriatrics in English, with additional notes and references by the translator, Richard Gower, a student of the author's. Sylvius (1614-1672) was professor of medicine at the University of Leiden and is considered the founder of iatrochemistry, though is best remembered today for identifying various regions of the brain including the Sylvian fissure and the Sylvian aqueduct.
