Advanced Reading Copy, pictorial wrappers. * And, 1st Trade Ed., cloth-backed boards, pictorial jacket. Signed on the title page by Anderson and with a long inscription signed by the author on the front free endpaper: "For Arthur Stone - Hope you Enjoy Sympathy, the book that Kirkus Reviews Called 'Morally Repugnant.' I Guess he wanted Hawson & the Boys to be 'nice guys.' All best from here, Kent, Long Beach, March, 1990." Plus, letter correspondence between Arthur Stone and Kent Anderson, laid-in, with Anderson's letter a computer print-out, dated February 10, 1991, from his Boise, ID address, signed in black ink "Kent" and Arthur Stone's autograph letter, complimenting Anderson on Sympathy and thanking him for the inscribed copy. Vietnam author's important first book, who's second book, Night Dogs, went on to receive rave reviews. Lot Amendments Condition: Minor nicks to wrappers; else both fine with a fine jacket.
