Le Voeu de toutes les nations, et l'interet de toutes les puissances, dans l'abaissement et l'humiliation de la Grande-Bretagne. [N.p.]: 1778. [2], 74 pp. 8vo (196 x 117 mm). Early half speckled tan calf over speckled boards, spine gilt. Final two signatures in second title toned, else internally clean, spine label rubbed. First edition of the first title, the earliest non-fictional monograph on Tahiti. Taitbout offers several speculations on the significance of a society evolved in isolation, the political lessons it can offer European nations, and the fatal blow dealt to these isolated societies by the arrival of the Europeans.
