TAURUS LITTROW VALLEY – Lunar Topographic Photomap. Taurus Littrow . Washington: Defense Mapping Agency Topographic Center, September 1972. A magnificent Taurus Littrow Valley map of the Moon. INSCRIBED and SIGNED: “ The valley of Taurus Littrow. Last lunar footsteps of the 20th Century. Gene Cernan, Apollo XVII, December 1972 .” One of the largest charts created for the final Apollo landing site based on Apollo 15 orbital photography. The mountains known as the North and South Massifs surrounding the central valley where Cernan guided Lunar Module Challenger to the last landing of the Apollo Program, towering some 7,500 feet above the valley floor. The map is lithographed with multiple grays and blacks having red contour lines at 10 meter intervals. Lunar chart, 29 by 43 inches. Scale 1:25,000. First edition.
