Terra Nova Expedition. Mount Erebus from Hut Point, March 1911, monochrome print from an original drawing by Dr Edward A. Wilson 27 x 37cm (10.5 x 14.5ins), framed and glazed, related printed letter and receipt, both completed in manuscript and signed by Oriana F. Wilson [wife of the artist] relating to the order of the print by William Oakes, the receipt of 10s for the picture dated 3rd May 1915, both items crudely taped to back of frame. The Antarctic sketches by Wilson, of which this reproduction was number 7 from those offered, were reproduced and sold by his widow in her husband’s memory and in order to raise money for the Officers’ Families’ Fund. Wilson died with Captain Scott on the ill-fated return journey from the South Pole in early 1912.. (1)
