(4to) 27x23 cm (10½x9") modern quarter calf and marbled boards, spine ruled in gilt with gilt design, maroon and green morocco spine labels, lettered in gilt, new endpapers. Sixth Edition. Handsomely bound important work in the popularization of the Greek Revival in America. Asher Benjamin was an American architect and author whose work transitioned between Federal architecture and the later Greek Revival architecture. His seven handbooks on design deeply influenced the look of cities and towns throughout New England until the Civil War. Builders also copied his plans in the Midwest and in the South. Lot Amendments Condition: Plate 1 lacking, repairs to title page with some pencil marks and a number stamp to back side, scattered foxing throughout, affecting some plates; very good.
