THE CRUCIFIXION WITH SELECTED SCENES FROM THE BIBLE RUSSIA, EARLY 19TH CENTURY Traditionally painted, the central image is flanked, on the left by the Descent of the Holy Spirit, the Tower of Babel, Adam and Eve and their Expulsion from the Garden of Eden, the prophet Joseph and his Brothers, the Circumcision and the Nativity, and on the right by Noah in the Ark and Jonah and the Whale, the Deposition and Entombment, Christ's Healings and the Transfiguration, below is found the Resurrection and Descent into Hell with New Testamental events, and flanked, on the left by the Presentation in the Temple and the Dormition, and on the right by the Baptism, the Temptations of Christ, and the Last Supper 42½ x 35in. (107.5 x 89cm.)
