Place: London Publisher: Treuttel, Wuertz, Treuttel, Jr. & Richter Date: 1829 Description: [iii], xliv, 536 pp. 8vo. Original brown boards backed in gray-green cloth, printed paper spine label. First Edition. Ventouillac (1796-1834) was Professor of French Language and Literature at King's College; wrote and edited many books on French literature and culture, most conspicuously perhaps the text for Pugin & Heath's handsomely-illustrated Paris and its environs (1829). This volume describes 1,250 works, with concise and useful comments. Berterman 2350. Contemporary bookplate of Samuel Beach Jones. Lot Amendments Condition: Rubbing and light edge wear, spine label a bit worn; hinges cracking (more so to front plus small hole near top); occasional foxing, else good or better.
