Complete Gospels of Mark and Luke, with two woodcut portraits, from the third folio edition of the Bishops' Bible. First appearing in 1568, the Bishops' Bible was an attempt to replace the Calvinistic Geneva Bible with a translation more in tune with the Episcopalian aims of the Church of England. It was extensively revised for the 1572 second folio edition, which is closely followed by this 1574 printing.
