Scarce in the original publisher's binding, John Clare's second publication is composed of three sections: the long, semi-autobiographical poem which gives the work its title; Poems, comprising seventy-one songs, ballads, and poems, which make up the rest of the first volume and part of the second; and Sonnets, which contains sixty pieces of writing.
