Reports on dissections of various mammals, birds, reptiles, etc., written by members of the Académie Royale des Sciences in Paris. Each animal depicted in fine copper-plate engraving with a view from life, and additional images of the various internal organs, etc. The dissections from which the illustrations were taken, were made over several years as specimens became available, often at the death of some animal in the royal menagerie. Lot Amendments Condition: Binding rebacked and restored, hinges repaired, small library stamp in lower margin of engraved title page; early owner's name on title page; foxing, some faint staining at rear; very good.
