The Rothschild Miscellany , London: Facsimile Editions, 1989. 2 volumes, 4to (210 x 155mm). Facsimile volume in colour, heightened in burnished gold; the companion volume with text by Iris Frishof, Shlomo Simonsohn, Israel Ta-Shema, Mirjam Foot, Louisella Mortara-Ottolenghi and others. Blind-stamped dark brown morocco, the facsimile volume with metal clasps and strap (spine slightly scuffed), cloth boxes. NUMBER 211 OF 500 COPIES (accompanying limitation slip). The facsimile edition of the richly illuminated Rothschild Miscellany, now Israel Museum, Jerusalem, Ms 180/51. Commissioned by Moses ben Yekuthiel Hakohen in 1479 and illuminated in the region of Ferrara, this lavish Renaissance manuscript comprises more than 37 religious and secular works reflection the customs of Jewish life.
