Written by Louise Clappe to her sister, 1851-2, as she accompanied her husband to Rich Bar on the Fea the r River; first published in the "Pioneer Magaz in e," 1854-5, under the pseudonym Dame Shirley . Accord in g to J. Gregg Layne of the Zamorano 80, the y present "an entirely different picture of the conditions at the m in es from that ord in arily found in books Lot Amendments Condition: Spine lightly rubbed, a few scratches to edges of text block, frontispiece loose at bottom; near fine.
