The Triumph TR6 was produced between1969-76 and was the best-seller of the TR range built by Triumph when production ended in July 1976; however this record was then surpassed by the angular TR7. In total 94,619 TR6's were built of which 86,249 were sold overseas and only 8,370 were sold in the UK. The bodywork closely resembled that of the previous model, the Triumph TR5, but the front and rear were squared off and all TR6's featured inline six-cylinder engines. For the US market the engine was fitted with carburettors; for other world markets including the United Kingdom, the TR6 was fitted with fuel-injection. The Lucas mechanical fuel injection system helped the UK specification TR6 produce 150bhp at the model's introduction. The TR6 featured a four-speed manual transmission and an optional equipment overdrive unit was a desirable feature because it gave drivers close-gearing for spirited driving yet it remained an excellent touring car for open motorways. It also featured independent rear suspension, rack and pinion steering, 15 inch wheels and tyres, pile carpet on the floors and boot, bucket seats, and a full complement of instrumentation. Braking was accomplished by disc brakes in the front and drum brakes in the rear. This particular TR6 has recently undergone some restoration work and is ready to be appreciated by a new owner. Originally registered in the UK on 11 th December 1974 and sadly being sold due to ill health, the car is supplied with a V5 registration document and a full one year MoT test certificate. Always a sports car that attracts admiring glances, this TR6 is finished in yellow with black trim and benefits from a walnut dashboard.
