THE UPPER PART OF AN EGYPTIAN LIMESTONE SHABTI FOR THE ESTATE OVERSEER OF THE TREASURER, THE SCRIBE MONTU NEW KINGDOM, EARLY 18TH DYNASTY, REIGN OF THUTMOSIS III-AMENHOTEP II, CIRCA 1479-1400 B.C. Mummiform, bearing no implements, wearing tripartite wig, with finely sculpted facial features, extended eye-lines and brows and slightly smiling lips, with the remains of five rows of finely carved hieroglyphs, reading: 'Spell for causing the shabti to carry out all the works (for) the Estate Overseer of the Treasurer, the Scribe Montu, true of voice, in the necropolis', followed by Chapter Six of the Book of the Dead 7 in. (17.8 cm.) high
