Also signed by Brander Matthews at the end of his preface to Volume 1, as issued. Several of the frontispieces signed by the artists, including: Peter Newell, A.B. Frost, Charles N. Flagg, E.W. Kemble, Karl Gerhardt Dan Beard, etc. Lot Amendments Condition: Bindings worn, spines faded and leather a bit dry, chipping to a few spine ends, several volumes with joints and/or hinges cracked; contents near fine.
