THEODOR ALESCHA* (Wien 1898 - 1991 Lilienfeld) Obergabelhorn, 1933 Pastell/Papier, 63,7 x 51,5 cm signiert Alescha und datiert 33 verso beschriftet und signiert Ob. Gabelhorn von d. hint. Staffelage, Sommer (Frühjahr) 1933, Alescha Provenienz: Nachlass des Künstlers, im Erbwege an die Lebensgefährtin des Künstlers, Kunsthandel Widder SCHÄTZPREIS: °€ 1.000 - 1.500 Österreichischer Landschafts- und Architekturmaler des 20. Jahrhunderts. Vertreter der Exilkunst. Studierte an der Akademie der bildenden Künste bei Rudolf Bacher Reisen nach Italien, Jugoslawien, Russland,in die Schweiz, nach Frankreich, Portugal und Amerika. Bekanntschaft mit Romain Rolland. Vorliebe für den Dichter Walt Whitman und den Romancier Otto Flake. Stellte regelmäßig im Hagenbund aus. 1938 Emigration nach Grenoble in Frankreich, 1939 in Paris traf er Willy Eisenschitz und Georg Merkel 1941 Emigration in die USA, 1947 Rückkehr nach Wien. 1984 Ausstellung in der Österreichischen Galerie Belvedere, 1988 Ausstellung im Wien Museum. Schuf v.a. Landschaften darunter Pastelle mit eindrucksvollen Gebirgsszenen und Berglandschaften aus den Walliser Alpen. Theodor Alescha bildete sich nach einem Studium an der Wiener Akademie weitgehend autodidaktisch fort. Ab 1918 führten ihn zahlreiche Reisen durch Europa u. a. nach Italien, in die Schweiz, Frankreich und Portugal. Auf Ausstellungen im Hagenbund erregten vor allem seine Landschaftsbilder die Aufmerksamkeit der Kollegen und Sammler. 1934 ging er ins Exil in die Schweiz und gelangte 1941 über Frankreich, Spanien und Portugal in die USA. 1947 kehrte Alescha auf Einladung des Kulturstadtrates Viktor Matejka wieder nach Wien zurück, wo er von der Gemeinde ein Atelier bekam und durch staatliche Ankäufe gefördert wurde. 1984 ehrte man ihn mit einer Retrospektive in der Österreichischen Galerie, 1988 mit einer Sonderausstellung im Historischen Museum.

Representative of exile art. Studied at the Academy of Fine Arts with Rudolf Bacher Travels to Italy, Yugoslavia, Russia, Switzerland, France, Portugal and America. Acquaintance with Romain Rolland. Fondness for the poet Walt Whitman and the novelist Otto Flake. Exhibited regularly in the Hagenbund. In 1938 he emigrated to Grenoble in France, and in Paris in 1939 he met Willy Eisenschitz and Georg Merkel 1941 emigration to the USA, 1947 return to Vienna. 1984 exhibition in the Austrian Gallery Belvedere, 1988 exhibition in the Vienna Museum. Created mainly landscapes including pastels with impressive mountain scenes and mountain landscapes from the Valais Alps. After studying at the Vienna Academy, Theodor Alescha continued his education largely self-taught. From 1918 he made numerous journeys through Europe, e.g. to Italy, Switzerland, France and Portugal. His landscape paintings in particular attracted the attention of colleagues and collectors at exhibitions in the Hagenbund. In 1934 he went into exile in Switzerland and arrived in the USA in 1941 via France, Spain and Portugal. In 1947 Alescha returned to Vienna at the invitation of City Councilor for Culture Viktor Matejka, where he was given a studio by the municipality and supported by state purchases. In 1984 he was honored with a retrospective at the Austrian Gallery, and in 1988 with a special exhibition at the Historical Museum.
