THOMAS AND WILLIAM DANIELL (1749-1840 & 1769-1873) Oriental Scenery. London: for the artists, and Longman, Hurst, Rees, Orme, and Brown, 1 January 1812 - 1816. 6 parts in one volume, oblong 4° (255 x 354mm). Letterpress title to each part (part 6 title reads: Hindoo Excavations in the Mountain of Ellora, near Aurungabad, in the Decan ), preface to parts one and four, engraved vignette titles, 144 aquatint plates, letterpress leaf of description for each plate, 8 engraved plans at end of part six, an extra engraved view after G.F. White laid in. (Short repaired tears in first title and second leaf, faint dampstain in corner of several leaves, occasional light spotting, some offsetting onto blank versos of letterpress.) Modern polished calf gilt, red leather spine label, gilt edges, by Bayntun-Riviere of Bath. Provenance : William Daniell presentation copy to the editor of the Literary Gazette, letter dated Feb. 27 1826 laid in.
