THREE CONTINENTAL GOLD ÉTUIS AND A GILT-METAL ÉTUI Slightly tapering two-colour gilt-metal needle-case of oval section, the polished cover and base with engine-turned arrow-pattern and flowerhead vertical band, the matrix blank; together with a two-colour gold needle-case of slightly tapering oval section, the cover and base engine-turned with fluting and floral swags, the matrix engraved with monogram 'LL', maker's mark 'CH', probably German, circa 1785, with a rubbed shield with coronet above mark; together with a slightly tapering needle-case of oval section, the cover and base with swirling engine-turning, the domed cap with swirling rosette, marked, Paris, 1753/1754, maker's mark rubbed, with the charge and discharge marks of Julien Berthe 1750-1756; together with a gold needle-case of quiver form, engraved with initial 'L' in shield, by Gabriel-Raoul Morel (fl. 1797-1832), with the warranty mark for small works Paris 1809-1818, French provincial post-1838 marks and the French post-1798 unofficial standard mark for 18 carat gold 4 in.
