Over 3 hours of footage filmed at Bukowski's home in 1983 for an interview with Cosmopolitan International Magazine. In this unedited footage, Bukowski fields questions from photographer Michael Montfort and interviewer Frances Schoenberger over many bottles of wine, with running commentary and banter from his future wife, Linda, as well. The interview takes place shortly before his story collection Hot Water Music was released, and the interview was published to coincide with the German release of his autobiographical novel, Ham on Rye. Many of the usual Bukowski talking points are touched upon: The image of his alter-ego Hank Chinaski vs. the actual Bukowski, drinking, women, other writers, his disdain for the 8 hour workday, his childhood and relationship with his parents, etc. Small portions of the footage were used in the 2003 documentary Born Into This, but the vast majority of the footage has not been released to the public.
