♡ THREE JAPANESE LACQUER INRO EDO PERIOD (1603-1867) AND MEIJI PERIOD (1868-1912) The first a four case inro on a black ground with gold and polychrome makie Karako playing; with a chrysanthemum theme bone netsuke; the second a three case inro of stylised hiramakie chrysanthemums behind fences of pewter; accompanying carved wood netsuke of a buddha's head; the third a four case inro of a Buddhist holy man atop a packhorse carrying a Hossu (Fly switch) in gold makie on a black ground; the netsuke in stag horn of an aubergine group. The inros 7cm x 5.5 cm; 7cm x 6 cm & 6.5 x 5.5 cm PROVENANCE: A Private Collection of Inro and Japanese accessories. Estimate $1,200-1,500 Condition: The first has dent to top compartment, and lacquer cracking to himotoshi edges. The second with minor rubbing overall, loss to lacquer on top compartment, some cracking to the himotoshi edges.
