Seif Wanly was an Egyptian painter who is credited with introducing Modern Art to Egypt, having studied with the Italian artist Otorino Becchi. In 1942 he set up his own studio in Alexandria with his brother Adham and together they participated in more than 17 institiutional exhibitions worldwide, most notably at the biennales of Venice and São Paulo. Today an entire floor of the Mahmoud Said Museum in Alexandria is dedicated to the works of these pioneering artistic brothers.
