Lot Description: Three Pairs of Mid-Victorian Fixed Fans or Face Screens , to include an elegant and attractively shaped pair constructed from embossed card and gilded, each enclosing a floral embroidery, one featuring a strong red flower and buds, with green leaves, the other large pale pink flowers with darker tinges, and narrow leaves. The verso is highly patterned in green and cream. Together with an embroidered pair, edged with braid, the deep cream silk each featuring a peasant couple in the countryside, extra fabric appliquéd on, to form voluminous skirts, or velvet breeches, the background very much in the style of Georgian embroidered pictures. The faces appear to be printed. The verso is plain warm beige silk, the handles most likely wood, covered with looped wool/braid. Finally, non-matching screens, one rectangular, one circular, both with embossed card borders, the first in dark beige enclosing a painting of autumn flowers, nuts and berries, the flowers in pastels with strong green leaves, the turned wood handle gilded, the verso patterned. The circular screen is painted with anemones, in soft blues, pink and green. Plain dark verso. This screen has a bone handle (6) Condition Report: .
